Course Description: The update comprises three threads: a brief outline of a number of significant developments in recent months, an outline of the main lessons to be drawn from a selection of cases heard by the Courts and an overview of the Autumn Budget 2018 and the Finance Bill published on the 7th November 2018.
The Budget and the Finance Bill contained significantly more than many commentators had anticipated. Whilst many of the proposals will not take effect for some time – typically, April 2020, others (such as the change to the definition of a personal company for Entrepreneurs relief), took effect from Budget day. The next few months will be busy ones for practitioners as the full impact of the changes are taken into account.
