Course Description: The course is designed to keep accountants and auditors up to date with the radical changes at Companies House and other changes to the Companies Act 2006.

In recent years there have been significant changes at Companies House in the form of Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 and to the Companies Act 2006. This course looks at all of these changes that have been implemented and those that are still to come. It looks at the practical ways that accountants can help companies comply. 

In particular the course will cover:

• Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023
• Economic Crime Act 2022, as it impacts Companies House
• Changes to company size thresholds
• Practical problems applying the accounts form and content requirements
• The content of strategic reports and other narrative reporting requirements
• A refresher on other Companies Act issues and other topical areas

About the presenter: John Selwood is a Chartered Accountant and independent training consultant, who lectures for major accountancy practices, professional bodies, training companies and publishers.  He speaks on financial reporting, money laundering, company law and auditing.
Previously, he has been the technical partner for a top thirty firm of accountants and head of an accountancy network.
John is a member of the ICAEWs Audit and Assurance Faculty’s Practitioner Services Committee and has been involved with presenting and writing the material for the Audit & Assurance and Financial Reporting Faculty’s Roadshows for a number of years.  He also regularly writes for Audit & Beyond and is the author of Core Auditing Standards.
