5 Benefits of Online CPD
With this year’s Accountex set to be dominated by cloud-based software providers such as Sage, Intuit and of course, Xero, the benefits of cloud-based accountancy software seem ubiquitous. But how about cloud-based CPD? At Instant CPD, we’ve pioneered cloud-based learning since 2000 and over the years we’ve discovered the various pros and cons of the online medium, here’s what we’ve found:
It saves £££
A day out of the office on a CPD course can be an expensive and time-consuming affair, energy that could be directed serving your clients’ needs. This is why online CPD can be such a useful tool as you can learn cost-effectively and on your own clock. With online CPD there are no conference rooms necessary, which means that the savings can be passed onto you the customer, without losing the advantages…
You don’t need to sacrifice quality
A concern we sometimes hear from new customers is that they don’t want to sacrifice the quality of training experienced at a live event because, let’s be honest, a lot of online CPD (such as click-through PowerPoint slides) can be monotonous to say the least. This is why at Instant CPD we aim to engage the viewer by pre-recording, in high-definition, the lecturer speaking directly to the camera with their slides on the screen. This really makes it feel as though the lecturer is sharing their knowledge directly with you, the viewer.
It will save you time
With online CPD you can truly fit your CPD in around your busy schedule. As all of our content is viewable on your laptop, tablet or smartphone, you really can catch-up on the latest developments in the accountancy industry anytime and anywhere. With smartphone users checking their devices on average 150 times a day, this compulsion can be harnessed to help develop your skills and enhance your career.
Learn in bite size chunks
As our content is pre-recorded in sections, it means you can pause, fast-forward or go back to specific points of learning whenever you like. So, if you need to catch up on a specific change in FRS 102, but don’t have the time to watch a 3-hour course, you can simply go directly to the specific section and watch it there and then.
Monitor your progress
Another potential pitfall about online CPD is that people will simply use it as an easy way to get a Certificate of Completion and check those points off their mandatory total, without actually learning much. However, with our new cloud-based training platform a user will be able to test their knowledge throughout a course before gaining the Certificate of Completion and can check-up on their results at any time. This allows the user to seamlessly go back and forth with their learning outcomes, ensuring that the content remains dynamic. You will also have the functionality to set and schedule your CPD goals at the beginning of the year, with our useful tracker keeping you on the path to learning success; boosting the services you can offer clients.
Instant CPD will be demonstrating their new cloud training platform at Stand A52 at Accountex on May 13th and 14th, be sure to come along and check it out.
